Youth Ministry Internship (YMI)

This is a two-year internship for graduates of the Word of Life Bible Institute sophomore year program who are interested in serving in a Youth Ministry (student ministry, children’s ministry, or a combination of both) in a local church.

Intern Requirements

  1. Must be a graduate of the Word of Life Bible Institute sophomore year program.
  2. Must be unmarried or married without children. If married, spouses must be a full-time participant.
  3. Must pursue an online bachelor’s degree during the internship (minimum of six credit hours per semester). Interns who do not complete or are removed from their position, will lose the education discount. For information on participating schools Click Here.
  4. Must be committed to personal spiritual growth.
  5. Must be committed to helping their sponsoring church move towards becoming a disciple-making youth ministry.
  6. Must participate in periodic virtual contact with Word of Life staff for training and encouragement.
  7. Must be approved by Word of Life staff before entering the program.
  8. Must pay the Internship cost
    • The internship is $250 a semester, a total of $1000 over two years. The internship fees can be paid by the student or the sponsoring church.
    • The internship fees must be paid by August 15th and January 15th each year.

  9. Interns are responsible for and is required to have health insurance coverage for the duration of the internship.
  10. The intern must sign the Youth Ministry Internship Agreement along with their sponsoring church agreeing to the ministry position, hours required, and the compensation package discussed in the Youth Ministry Internship Agreement.

Step 3

Once logged in on the Word of Life Missionary Application site go to the bottom of the page and click on the “Youth Ministry Internship”.

Step 4

Complete all three steps of the Youth Ministry Internship application.

Step 5

Potential interns will be interviewed by a Word of Life Youth Ministry staff member to confirm they understand the requirements of the internship and are enthusiastic about being involved.

Step 6

Once a potential intern is approved, they will have access to information about the approved churches. Approved interns are to connect directly with the churches they are interested in.

Step 7

Once a church and intern reach an agreement the church will inform Word of Life by completing a Youth Ministry Internship Agreement.

Internship Deadlines

Before WOLBI Spring break – Intern application and interview completed

March 11-April 8 – Interns post Resume and seek Church positions

April 8-June 8 – Churches and potential Interns complete the interview process

June 8 – before summer camp – Churches and interns complete final contract
